Where do I start?
Last month I was fortunate enough to meet this successful individual through a referral of a previous client. The brief was to capture some wonderful images to enhance their online presence, and strengthen their personal branding with high-quality, professional imagery.
The decision was made to use the daylight studio, opposed to selecting a location to shoot at. Both have their upsides and downsides, however the weather that week was all over the place and the deadline was very short, so to have a controlled environment on hand was ideal to mitigate any issues arising.
Due to the client being experienced in front of the camera, it made my assistant and I’s job remarkably easier. This was down to the fact, they are significantly more comfortable and confident, as well as knowing how to pose or adjust efficiently with little creative direction required.
In terms of the lighting setup used, it was relatively straightforward. Having not worked with a darker skin tone before, it was important to adjust the lighting setup accordingly as they would require a brighter setup compared to a light skin toned model.
The equipment used are as follows: Lumix S5 body, paired with a Lumix 20-60mm lens and Profoto Trigger Remote. The studio lights were Profoto, with an Octobox and two zoom reflectors for the background. Of course, tethering was done too with a Tether Tools tether cable and Lumix tethering software on a MacBook Pro to efficiently handle the workflow. The equipment is for professional use and is well regarded within the photography industry too.
